The large ground of the B.N.S.D. Shiksha Niketan Inter College was full with children, their parents, and other distinguished guests who waited patiently for Dr. Kalam in open sun on a rather hot day. A wave of cheer ran through the people when Dr. Kalam arrived at the campus. Dr. Angad Singh, Principal of the school received Dr. Kalam on his arrival and a march-past was given in his honour. Dr. Kalam was welcomed on the stage by Ram Balak Mishra who presented him with a shawl. Ram Balak Mishra described the former President as “The man of the masses” and called him “The President of the people”. Dr. Angad Singh presented Dr. Kalam with a memento.
The former President gave away prizes to 25 meritorious students for excellence in academics and other fields and praised their efforts. Dr. Kalam then addressed the gathering and congratulated Shri. Bramhavarta Sanatan Dharma Mahamanda for completing 100 years and B.N.S.D. Shiksha Niketal Inter College for completing 25 years in service. Dr. Kalam then turned to the children present there and showed exactly why he is fondly called Uncle Kalam by children all over the country. Children listened intently as he explained and simplified the complex equations of life, knowledge, and success. Dr. Kalam urged them to think differently and to work for their own dreams. He asked them to work hard and to never give up in life.
Earlier, a brief but very colourful cultural programme was presented by the children who sang and danced in groups and presented various yogic and other exercises. The cultural programme beautifully showcased the unity in diversity of India . Vaishnavi Verma received a huge round of applause for her soulful rendition of the song “Bharat sabse naya rahega”.
Vote of thanks was given by Harikrishna Seth, Secretary of Bramhavarta Sanatan Dharma Mahamandal. Vice President of the organization, Om Prakash Bhargav, was also present on the occasion along with Krishna Gopal Lahoti and Anand Shakar Gupta.
